Was play city builder 4000 and wood was not detect to a mile that had the same name as the town.

It's the station name that must match town name (game mechanics). Rename station doesn't work, needs to get town name when placed.
Edit: and checking better, I think that station violates a couple rules

Yeah, I tried if it would the problems was solved by extending it closer to the city. Is was not solved... Anyway I think I should have removed it and then placed a new station closer to town.

The Wood will counted to the town "Pinkerwood" from the station "Pinkerwood Mines". You have to build a station with name of your hometown, in your example "Swivelworth Mine" etc. As ST2 pointed just to rename will not work!
