Suggestion: Autocleaning of empty companies with no vehicles

I suggest we clean empty companies with no vehicles, because if someone leave their company without building vehicles:

1) They occupy a color for no reason (I know a lot of people have favorites!)
2) IF the player comes back to play, they'll most likely start a new company anyway
3) There's no reason to show these in goal list (!cv, !goal, etc) anyway..

I have only one condition...we should clear an empty company 5minutes after the player left....so we can also cover the timeouts

I totally agree on cleaning empty companies with no vehicles

probably the easiest way is leting xShunter use the setting "autoclean_novehicles" available on openttd.cfg
if this solution, could be 6 months (~6 minutes). If possible to set a timer for that in xShunter/plugins, ~5 minutes is a good solution too

and I'll add other reason for it:
- many players build tracks and no vehicles when they leave (without intention of continue)... making harder to build to other players (in some situations)

the lazy programmer that i am i won't write even a single line of code only to make it 5 minutes instead of 6. we will simply use what is there, as ST2 suggested, autoclean_novehicles 6 it is 
the existing "autoclean on demand" can stay as it is, e.g. when a company slot is needed for a new company and all slots are taken empy companies will be closed even before that time runs out.

Dont know if i should be writing this in the "complaints thread" or this, I joined K4 tonight and wittnessed two leading companies got reset. When Geert came later , he checked and said there is no log of any admins doing the reset, it may be caused by server company limit to accomodate newcomers. But two high earning companies I witnessed and another player said he has seen 4 companies got reset... Maybe a bug in "autoclean".

Hi Naz, I have also taken a look at the logs.  It is very unfortunate that 2 leading companies got reset it is not a bug however. How it works is the following:

Empty companies (no players, no vehicles get auto-cleaned (reset) after 6 months)

If a player starts a new company and the maximum amount of companies is reached companies get reset in the following order: (by empty I mean no player in the company)

• Empty companies with no vehicles
• Empty companies without !saveme
• Empty companies with !saveme

This means that if there are allready a maximum amount of companies and they are ocupied by players, there is no way to prevent the reset. Using !saveme will help in thus respect that companies that have not used it will be reset earlier.

Concluding, the only advice I can give is: when possible stay connected and when you leave use !saveme. Most of the time you will be fine then.

finally after all the time i have made the change. i decided to even go for a more radical solution: empty companies without vehicles are now reset after 1 month already. we can still increase the time if it leads to too much unrest on the servers, but i don't think it will.

EDIT: of course the initial change had a strong impact. a minute after i activated it on the servers it looked like this:
